Here at Gibbinthegremlin we do things in a rather traditional way. Every product that is made here is done by hand, that includes all stitching, cutting and forming. No machines are involved once we get the raw product in our hands. Now keeping this rather traditional idea in your heads you will notice that we do not do a lot of "sales" or advertising with flashy signs that say "Buy this, get this, you need this, your partner or kids can not live with out this...?" and so f...orth.
The reason is a simple one really. Each year traditions are being swept away, some of these can be a good thing to lose (such as the way women were treated way back when) others such as family values and simply spending time with one's family and friends. We see these traditions being replaced by a huge materialistic tradition, everyone wants everything NOW instead of waiting for a great product it has to be now or they may throw a temper tantrum like a 4 year old (we have seen 40 year olds actually do this on the web more times than anyone can count!)
So we have decided that you will never see a cyber Monday or black Friday sale, or even a Christmas sale...these sales distract from the true meaning of this festive time.
Yes we like money do not get us wrong but we like the fact that people are spending time with family and friends and remembering what the spiritual holidays are truly about. Its not about what you get for Hanukkah, Christmas or what ever other holiday you choose to have, its about being with those you love, spending time with friends and family making memories that will out last any "thing" you buy them.
So this holiday time if you need to buy something to show your love to your friends and family put some thought into it, make them something even if its your grandma's secret recipe for fruitcake (that has way to much bourbon in it!) and simply spend time with them, as we are not here for ever. One day we will all pass into the great unknown, so make some memories that you can pull out of the old memory box and love years down the line.
So from our family to yours. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, YuleTides to you and yours, and what ever other sayings that are used to wish each and everyone of you a very merry time!!
Oh and a P.S Do not drink to much of Aunt Bertha's egg nog or you may find yourself, naked and hanging off the Christmas tree...like last year.....you know who I am talking to!!!!
